Mark your calendar for our 34th Annual

International Festival to take place on

Saturday, April 17 from 10:00 a.m.-3:00 p.m.

 

The International Festival is one of Academia Cotopaxi’s important traditions with over 2,500 people participating every year. Over 25 countries            representing nationalities participate with food, games, typical dances and music.

 

This is a special day when the Academia Cotopaxi community gathers to see friends, eat delicious food, enjoy fabulous student performances, play games and enjoy a beautiful day.

 

The proceeds from the International Festival are used for a school project and to support a community service area.  Thanks to everyone’s hard work and participation, the net proceeds for the 2009 International Festival of   $5,853.58 which was assigned for construction of playground equipment     located near the school’s parking lot.  10% of the funds were donated to   Fundación Natura for their work with the Zambiza community.

 

Proceeds from the 2010 International Festival will also benefit a school project and a charitable organization this year (90% will be assigned to a school    project and 10% for charity). We would like to welcome your suggestions for school projects.

So far the following countries will be participating with typical foods           represented by school families:  Argentina, Bolivia, Brazil,  Canada, Chile,   Colombia, Ecuador, Germany, Greece, Honduras, Israel, Italy, Japan, Jordan, Kazakhstan, Lebanon, Mexico, Netherland, Nicaragua, Norway, Pakistan, Peru, Slovenia, Spain, Sudan, Switzerland, Uruguay , United States and   Venezuela.

 

In the next couple of months, families will receive information regarding    special meetings to organize the various stands represented by the different countries.

Your support and collaboration is very important in order to make the         International Festival 2010 a great success where we will be also be         celebrating Academia Cotopaxi’s 50th Anniversary.

All the profits from the auction will be donated to the The Children of Haiti Project (COHP) which is sponsored by the International and American School Communities.  This project will provide education for the poorest children in Haiti.

“Parent/Student Doubles”

Parents, team up with your son or daughter

to form a doubles team!

The stars will shine brightly in the AC Auditorium Thursday evening, March 11.  Come and enjoy an evening full of AC student talent!  Singing, dancing, drama and much more will be onstage!!  The annual AC student Talent Show will take place Thursday evening, March 11, from 7:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. All proceeds from this event will go to Habitat for Humanity. Your attendance at the Talent Show might help to build a need family a new home! Help support your classmates, brothers, sisters, sons, daughters and friends in the AC Community by coming to the Talent Show!!

 

The entrance fee will be $5.00.  Again, all proceeds will benefit AC's work with Habitat for Humanity.

 

Tickets will be available at the door.  Come on time to get your ticket and good seats! We hope to see you all there!!

 

 

 

 

 

HS SEMESTER EXAMS

 

Dear Parents,

 

Please be advised that High School Semester      Exams for grade 9-11 students will take place from Friday, June 11 through Wednesday June 16. I think these dates were left off the calendar. Entrance and dismissal      reminders

 

Dismissal at guard gates

All students who do not ride must remain inside the school campus until they are picked up.  Students are not allowed to wait for their parents outside of the school gate or in the main guardhouse area.  We ask that you speak to your children about this as it is an important procedure to assure their safety.  

 

Parent and visitors entrance to campus

We would like to remind you that all parents and visitors are required to present a photo            identification when entering the campus through the guard gate.

 

Parking Lot Use

The school’s parking lot open to all Academia   Cotopaxi parents who have the proper vehicle     authorizations and decals.  To request a form to register your vehicle, please contact Mauricio Mera at mmera@cotopaxi.k12.ec. For security reasons, only authorized vehicles with the official sticker will be allowed entrance in the Academia Cotopaxi  parking lot. 

 

The school parking lot is open on school days from 7:00a.m. to 6:00p.m.* and during special events as posted along with the event information.

 

Special Events or Activities Parking lot will be open on certain weekend days, holidays or evening times for special events or activities given previous approval by administration through use of ARF (i.e. Holiday Bazaar, International Festival, PTO Brunch, Baseball, Student Performances, etc.)

 

There are times during the day, from 8:45a.m. to 9:10a.m. and from 11:45a.m. to 12:10p.m.  when it will be  temporarily closed to secure entrance and dismissal of IMAGINE students.

 

*After 6 p.m., contact guard at main gate at Ext. 1601 to open the door to exit.  No cars will be    allowed to enter. No vehicles should be parked overnight.

News about CAISSA

 

Thursday was a great day for the Cotopaxi Cougars! Both teams have had exceptional performances during their first day at CAISSA.  Our Varsity    Soccer team won both of their matches.  First, they defeated Trinidad and Tobago by 3-0 and Venezuela by 1-0! Our Varsity Basketball team also      defeated Trinidad by 65-55 and Venezuela by 69-47! We hope they keep up the good work and hope to see you all out there supporting our teams!
