The above photo is a product of our Exploratory FLEX Activity session. Students all selected an activity to explore and had a lot of fun learning something new. This photo is from the Calligraphy group.

Fiestas de Quito
Fiestas de Quito are approaching! This year the MS will celebrate Quito with traditional games, food, and music. Middle School students will have the opportunity to play many traditional games that are still found in the city. Thank you in advance to the many parents who answered the call to volunteer. The celebration will take place on Wednesday from 1:30 - 3:00pm on the upper field (no rain, please ;)
The MS also celebrated Quito last week at a Quito Days themed assembly. And, we are all learning how to play Cuarenta in mentor classrooms.
For more information, please contact your child's Spanish teacher.

This is a short week - Friday, December 7, is the Quito Days holiday.

With kind regards,
Sheryl

Many AC families participated in delivering Holiday Boxes to Venezuelan refugees last weekend. If you are interested in taking part in the delivery to Zumbauha on Saturday, please complete this form. You will then be contacted with details.

Counselor’s Corner - Aubrey Jordan
While working on gift tags for the Holiday Boxes, Middle Schoolers were able to reflect with their mentors on what they are grateful for. Focusing on what one is grateful for can not only improve mood but also boost self-esteem as we focus on the positives in life. This article on gratitude is geared towards adolescents and is a great starting point for talking with your child about how to cultivate a gratitude mindset.

Thank you for such amazing participation in our Thanksgiving Holiday Drive.  Your children made boxes, decorated cards, brought toys, make candy bags and more...parents helped with snacks, fabricated reusable holiday bags and many spent hours shopping for the holiday box.  Thank you!!!

Please check your WhatsApp for how you can continue to support.  If you do have new toys that you can donate in addition to having your child participate in the “No Uniform Day” collection, please send those in. If you are interested in more information, do not hesitate to contact me at ppereira@cotopaxi.k12.ec.

Also, if you want to join an AC group to deliver donations in Zumbahua on Dec. 1, please complete this form.  Directions will be sent to those who sign up.

And, get ready to celebrate our host city.  Don’t forget to send in your drawing.  Black ink works really well!  Here is the link with the information from the Spanish department.  We know you will enjoy the experience and look forward to seeing you all here on December 5.  You have the opportunity to make learning palpable for your children and we want to invite you to engage in representing your appreciation for this amazing city symbolically.  We will exhibit your representations during our Quito celebrations.

Inquiry Corner
Individuals who are KNOWLEDGEABLE “develop and use conceptual understanding, exploring knowledge across a range of disciplines. They engage with issues and ideas that have local and global significance” (IBO).  The Parent Learning Morning this week, allowed many parents to become more KNOWLEDGEABLE about the topics of Inquiry, Collaborative Problem Solving, Inclusion, and Mother Tongue.  Thank you parents for being our role models within the attributes of the Learner Profile.
