Safe Respectful Responsible - Welcome Assembly
It has been wonderful to see many of you over the last week!  Your children are filling our classrooms, hallways, and common places with smiles, with curiosity… Students are eager to learn and interact with each other.  We hope that they are coming home with many stories of their time at school.

We want to share the presentation that we used at our first assembly.  We encourage you to speak to your children about being “bucket fillers!”  Enjoy the clips with them.

At this link, you will also find the New Family Orientation presentation for your reference.

Every year, parents have the opportunity to volunteer to support homeroom teachers as parent representatives.  If you are interested, or would like more information, please let your homeroom teacher know.  Here’s a link to our parent representative guidelines.  We will select the parent representatives on a first come, first serve basis.

Learning English in our division
Our school mission states that “We are an English language-based international learning community,” and to that end, we are working to improve our English Language Learner (ELL) program and increase the focus on language learning across all disciplines. In order to better understand what type of support students need, we are collecting data on student language levels.

In the coming weeks, some elementary students will be taking the WIDA Model exam based on admissions criteria and classroom data and observations. We are testing to better understand how to best support their needs. The WIDA Model is a comprehensive language exam that identifies proficiency levels in reading, writing, speaking, and listening. This data informs teacher planning to best meet the language needs of our students and allows students to identify their own strengths and areas for growth.

If you have any questions regarding the WIDA, please contact the ELL Coordinator, Kourtney Wessels,

Also, if you want to learn/practice English, please refer to the school wide announcement of classes offered through the One Institute or contact, (593-2)382-3270 Ext. 1702
