MS Mar 6

Parents, we need your support. Wearing the AC uniform is not a choice, it is a requirement. The only “free dress” day is Friday. This does not mean half days, or days before a holiday weekend, ONLY Fridays (even if your children tell you something different). As of this week, the first two times a student is not in uniform, his/her House will lose ten points. Every time after that, the student will spend one lunch period in the MS Office. The vast majority of MS students properly wear the uniform every day, this new system is to ensure 100% compliance. We rely on each one of YOU to look at what your child is wearing when he/she leaves the house in the morning. Thank you.

Please mark your calendars for MS Parent/Teacher/Student Conferences on March 26. You will receive an email soon with all conference information and sign-up instructions. The MS conferences are to be attended by both students and parents. Based on your feedback from first semester, the majority of parents who completed the feedback survey prefer to sign up for conference times, and hold conferences in teacher classrooms. Thus, we will use the same format for this conference session. See you on March 26!

Electives 2019-20
Grade 6 and 7 parents, your child should have spoken with you about his/her MS Elective Preference form. We discussed electives at our assembly last Friday, and every student received a form to take home. Students rank their preferences, and we do our best to create their schedule to include their preferred electives. Please note that due to scheduling constraints and class sizes, not all students get their top preferences.

The forms must be signed by a parent and are due by Monday, March 11. One note, Choir was inadvertently left off the form. Students have been instructed that if they would like Choir, they should write it on the form and rank their preferences 1 - 8.

Parent Day in the Middle
Our “deep dive” morning into the MS curriculum on March 13 is fully subscribed. Thank you to everyone who has signed up! If you missed this opportunity, look for it again in October!

Fine Arts Festival
The MS will hold Fine Arts Festival March 14 and 15. You should have already received communication from your child’s instrumentals teacher regarding the special band and orchestra events. The entire MS will see performances on Thursday, and Friday, and will all participate in special “arts” activities in the afternoons (we will hold regular, shortened, classes in the mornings).

With kind regards,
