Exercise of the Rights of the Information Holders

The exercise of the rights provided for in the Organic Law for the Protection of Personal Data shall be channeled through the data controller, the Personal Data Protection Authority, and in accordance with the applicable regulations.

The Organic Law for the Protection of Personal Data provides for the right to the protection of personal data recognized as the right to informative self-determination, that is, the freedom of each individual to decide on the processing of his data; the freedom to decide which data are communicated to third parties, as well as the right to prevent their use for a purpose other than that for which they were collected, guaranteeing individual rights and freedoms.

In relation to the above, ACADEMIA COTOPAXI offers you this tool to guarantee the fulfillment of your rights in accordance with the Law, where the following data must be included: name of the owner, contact number, e-mail or other means to receive a response; documents that prove your identity or legal presentation, clear and precise description of the data regarding which you are seeking to exercise your rights and other elements or documents that facilitate the location of the data.

Procedure

The request for the exercise of rights proposed by the data subject or the representative must be addressed within a period of 15 days by Academia Cotopaxi. Within 5 days, the school may request to the data subject to clarify or complete any request through a notification. The data subject will have a term of 10 days to respond to the requirement. In the event of no response to the request, Academia Cotopaxi may file any send a notification. This circumstance does not prevent the data subject from submitting a new request for the exercise of rights.

The official channels for the reception or submission of the request or petition for the exercise of rights will be: (i) institutional website, rights exercise section, and (ii) official email for data protection inquiries: dataprotection@cotopaxi.k12.ec.

Note: The Regulation to the Law on Personal Data Protection has established an exception to the right to erasure personal data related to the fields of health, safety, employment, and education; for reasons of public interest.
