Center for Teaching and Learning

Connecting people, practice, research, and ideas

The Academia Cotopaxi Center for Teaching and Learning serves as a regional hub where educators, researchers, schools, universities, organizations, and thought leaders connect ideas, practice, and research to strengthen teaching and learning.

Rooted in Ecuador and South America and connected globally, the Center expands access to high-quality professional learning, creates opportunities for meaningful collaboration and research, and helps elevate innovative work across our region.

Our goal is simple: to connect people and ideas in ways that deepen learning, strengthen practice, and create more meaningful experiences for learners.

A Place to Connect, Learn, and Create

Great work is underway every day in schools, universities, and educational organizations throughout Ecuador and Latin America. Too often, however, that work happens in isolation.

The Center for Teaching and Learning creates opportunities to bring people together to share practice, explore important questions, build partnerships, conduct research, and learn from one another.

We believe meaningful educational progress occurs when practitioners, researchers, organizations, and communities collaborate on real questions, shared challenges, and purposeful projects. The Center provides the space and structure for that collaboration, supporting joint research, professional learning, partnerships, and initiatives that strengthen practice and improve the student experience.

What We Do

Rooted Locally. Connected Globally.

The Center is an initiative of Academia Cotopaxi International School in Quito, Ecuador, extending the school's commitment to learning, innovation, collaboration, and community engagement.

At the same time, the Center is designed to reach beyond our campus.

We are a platform where local expertise meets global thinking; where schools connect with universities and organizations; where researchers work alongside practitioners; and where educators across Ecuador, South America, and the wider international community can learn from one another.

From Ideas to Impact

The Center is built on the belief that professional learning is most powerful when it fosters connection, inquiry, experimentation, and action.

We bring together:

People

Educators, leaders, researchers, students, organizations, and thought leaders.

Practice

The knowledge and experience emerging from classrooms, schools, and educational communities.

Research

Disciplined inquiry that helps us better understand teaching, learning, leadership, and educational change.

Ideas

New perspectives that challenge our thinking and help us imagine what education can become.

By connecting these elements, we aim to create opportunities that extend beyond individual events and foster meaningful learning, partnerships, research, and lasting impact.

The Center for Teaching and Learning is designed to be collaborative.
