Dance

Rhythm & Movement (Elementary)

Rhythm & Movement is a special initiative for younger elementary students where they explore movement and concepts in a creative, positive environment twice a week. The program develops lifelong physical skills aligned with U.S. SHAPE standards and conceptual understandings from the PYP Personal, Social, Physical Education and Arts-Dance learning continuums.

Key outcomes include building competence and confidence in gross motor skills, reflecting on growth, fostering cooperation and communication, and developing a complete understanding of well-being. Students engage in experiences where movement becomes creative expression, storytelling, and experimentation with space, time, and energy. Working with the elementary team, Rhythm & Movement extends classroom PYP inquiries and reinforces that learning opportunities are all around us.

Dance (Secondary Elective)

Dance is a dynamic performing arts elective for secondary students of all experience levels. Through the study of various genres, students develop kinesthetic awareness and technical skills in form, strength, flexibility, coordination, and personal expression.

Students also apply creative thinking as choreographers, designing and refining their own sequences while reflecting on intentional movement to communicate artistic ideas. The course examines dance through historical, societal, and cultural contexts and explores connections to the world and ourselves.
